If possible, use A, A+ or A++ low-consumption fridges and other household appliances! Modern household appliances use much less energy (up to 50%) than older ones. These modern energy saving appliances are indeed a bit more expensive, but their price is recouped relatively quickly.
When buying new appliances, look out for the EU standard energy classification (A+ or A++ label), or ask the salesperson.
If possible, DO NOT buy high-consumption appliances (with "F" or "G" labels), even if they are on sale, because they use a lot more energy and their annual maintenance may cost more than the price of the appliance itself.
